Private Maritime Security has two categories.

1.Private Maritime Security (PMSCs) that provide armed teams

2.Privately Contracted Armed Security Personnel (PSCASP) . These deploy onboard

PMSCs usually privately owned companies, of ex military forces. However registered in foreign countries, not where deployed. Their protection status various from time to time. Protecting client ship-operators to large security conglomerates which incorporate over hundreds of maritime and land based clients.

Now PSCASP are the actual deployment team. Team size differs as law in security companies are different in every country. As well as clients vessel budget. PSCASP involves many requirements for vessels .

Use of PSCAP

It’s an additional safeguard to your vessel. If vessels want to engage service of PSCAP they should considered these points.

  2. Output of the companies risk assessment
  3. Ship Speed
  4. Freeboard
  5. Operation types
  6. levels of protection provided by , authorities, coast guards and maritime police.

However many Flag States don’t allow deployment of PSCAP as it increases pirates aggressive level. Therefore depending on the region, location and law of the company it can only deploy PSCAP.

Ship size, length estimated time of sailing is needed to concludes if essential to use PSCAP.

Why many Cargo vessels, Bulk carriers don’t use PSCAP?
